언제나 처럼

내가 사용하는 HDD 는 일부러 이것만을 사용하는것은 아니지만

어느순간 확인해 보니 외장하드를 제외하고


모두다 시게이트사의 제품들이었다

사용하는 HDD 가 노트북까지 확인해보니 모두 6개였는데 우연치 않게 모두

동일 회사 제품이어서 제조사의 홈페이지를 뒤지다 좋은 프로그램을 지원해 주는걸 확인했다

사용한지는 조금 지났지만 한동안 바빠서 블로그 관리가 너무 허술하고 포스팅한 내용도

오래된것 같아서 조그만 팁이랄까?? 하나 올려본다

아마 다른 제조사들 역시 지원항목에서 찾다보면 유사한 프로그램들을 지원하리라 생각된다

먼저 시게이트사는 시만텍의 노턴고스트와 함께 백업/복구 프로그램을 잘알려져 있는

아크로니스 사의 트루이미지란 제품을 시게이트 사용자들에게 무료로 제공된다

물론 부팅시 복구모드 진입이나 보안영역 생성등의 추가 기능이 제외된 버전이긴 하지만

DiskWizard 라는 이름으로 제공되는 프로그램은 백업/복구용으로 사용하기엔 충분하지 않을까 생각된다

프로그램 설치후 부팅디스크 까지 제작하고 나면 어떤 유료제품과 비교해도 기능상 성능상

떨어지지 않는다고 생각된다 물론 기본이 유료제품의 기능제약판이긴 하지만 말이다

기존에 트루이미지라는 제품을 사용해본 사람이라면 너무나 친숙한 인터페이스 일것이다

제품명은 다르게 표시되어있지만 분명 동일 제품이다 한글지원이 가능하여 처음 사용하는 사용자도

모든 과정이 마법사를 실행하여 단계별로 넘어가기에 쉽게 백업과 복구를 실행할수있다

뭐 스크린샷이 한장 뿐이지만 이역시 트루이미지와 동일제품이란걸 확인하기 위한 것일뿐이다

다른 제조사의 HDD 에서의 동작여부는 어떤지 확인해보지 못했다 내가가진 모든 HDD 의 제조사가

동일 하기에 확인하기도 쉽지 않을것 같다

웬디나 기타 다른 제조사에서도 제공한다는 이야기가 있는것 같은데 시게이트 제품 사용자가 아니라고

실망하지말고 각 제조사에서 제공하는 프로그램들을 활용해보자 혹시 이제품보다 더 사용이 편리하고

성능 좋은 제품을 제공할지도 모르니 한번 시간을 내서 보물찾기를 해보는것도

나름 괜찮을 재미가 있지 않을까 생각된다

SpamAware is a plugin for MS-Outlook. It uses SpamAssassin to score new incomming mails and decides based on the settings made in options what to do with the mail.

It contacts through SpamAssassin several spam-server to be more efficient. The application is completely functional after installation and gets automatically active on new mails.

UltraDefrag is powerful Open Source defragmentation tool for Windows. It is very fast, because the defragmenting is done by kernel-mode driver.

They are three interfaces to them: graphical, console and native. The GUI is very useful, because it represents your filesystem visually as a color coded cluster map. The console is another option for those that prefer the command line. It is also allows you to run UltraDefrag from the task scheduler and scripts. Finally, the native executable will run at boot time in a manner similar to chkdsk.

CryptoExpert creates encrypted virtual disks and these disks are visible as usual disks with drive letters (for example, G:, H:, Z:, i.e. with any drive letter that is not used by other system devices).

The data stored on a CryptoExpert disk is stored in the container file. A container is a file, so it is possible to backup a container, move or copy it to other disk (CD-ROM or network, for instance) and continue to access your encrypted data using CryptoExpert. Any free drive letter (or choosen letter) in the system may be used to mount and to open an encrypted file-container for access. IE PassView is a small utility that reveals the passwords stored by Internet Explorer browser.

It supports the new Internet Explorer 7.0, as well as older versions of Internet Explorer: from 4.0 to 6.0
Using IE PassView :
IE PassView doesn't require any installation process or additional DLLs. In order to start using it, just copy the executable file (iepv.exe) to any folder like, and run it. After running iepv.exe, IE PassView scans all Internet Explorer passwords in your system, and display them on the main window.
Types Of Passwords :
IE PassView utility can recover 3 types of passwords:
- AutoComplete Passwords: When you enter a Web page that contains a form with user/password fields and a login button, Internet Explorer may ask you if you want to save the password, after pressing the login button. If you choose to save the password, the password is saved as AutoComplete password.
Be aware that some Web sites (like Yahoo login page) deliberately disable the AutoComplete feature, in order to avoid password stealing by other users.
- HTTP Authentication Passwords: Some Web sites allow the user to enter only after typing user and password in a separated dialog-box. If you choose to save the password in this login dialog-box, the password is saved as HTTP authentication password.
- FTP Passwords: Simply the passwords of FTP addresses (ftp://...)
Be aware that in the last Beta of Internet Explorer 7.0 (Beta 3), FTP passwords are not saved in the system.
Known Issues With Internet Explorer 7.0 :
Starting from version 7.0 of Internet Explorer, Microsoft completely changed the way that passwords are saved. In previous versions (4.0 - 6.0), all passwords were saved in a special location in the Registry known as the "Protected Storage".
In version 7.0 of Internet Explorer, passwords are saved in different locations, depending on the type of password. Each type of passwords has some limitations in password recovery:
- AutoComplete Passwords: These passwords are saved in the following location in the Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2
The passwords are encrypted with the URL of the Web sites that asked for the passwords, and thus they can only be recovered if the URLs are stored in the history file. If you clear the history file, IE PassView won't be able to recover the passwords until you visit again the Web sites the asked for the passwords.
- HTTP Authentication Passwords: These passwords are stored in the Credentials file under Documents and Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Credentials , together with login passwords of LAN computers and other passwords.
Due to security limitations, IE PassView can recover these passwords only if you have administrator rights.

Can you learn another language in the time it takes for your machine to boot? Do you turn on your PC when you go to bed, so it's finished booting by the time you get home from work the next day?

When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program in there at the same time. Therefore if you have quite a lot of programs starting when Windows starts, each program will try and grab CPU time so that it can load.
If each program tries to do this at the same time, you soon notice the slow down that occurs, due to your CPU trying to help all the programs to load, and your hard disk accessing multiple files.

User Account Control (UAC) is a new security feature in Microsoft Windows Vista that changes the architecture of the access token creation process and prevents users from logging on with full administrative rights.

While the intent of this feature may have been enhanced security, all too often users need administrative rights for tasks like installing/updating programs, and many software applications need access to run properly.
The User Account Control tool has been designed to replace the Vista UAC, to simultaneously make your system more secure while significantly improving user-friendliness.
By default, any application launched by an administrator is running with a filtered, standard user access token. When the administrator attempts to perform a task, the UAC prompts the user to approve the action. This can lead to poor user experiences because the prompts can be slow to display, and appear frequently and without warning. What’s more, because the UAC may give a false sense of security since other processes can still access the desktop, it actually raises security concerns.
The net effect is that many users find the UAC security clearance and prompting process annoying, especially those who are a computer’s only user and have all the latest Norton Internet Security software installed and updated.
